SkinVive by Juvéderm is a hyaluronic acid injectable that improves the quality of the skin rather than adding volume. Very small droplets are placed just under the surface of the cheeks to improve smoothness, hydration and glow. It is performed by a physician at Sage Dermatology, at our clinic at Yonge and Wellesley in downtown Toronto.

How it differs from filler

Dermal fillers are placed deeper to restore volume and change contour. SkinVive is spread in tiny amounts across the treatment area, so it hydrates and smooths the skin without changing the shape of the face. It is not used for deep folds, lips or chin augmentation; dermal fillers are the better choice for those.

Who it suits

People whose skin looks dull, dry or finely textured despite a good skincare routine, and who want a subtle improvement without looking done. It combines well with Botox and with lasers such as Clear + Brilliant.

What to expect

Numbing cream is applied first, and the product itself contains lidocaine. The injections take about 20 to 30 minutes. Small bumps, redness, swelling or bruising at the injection points are common and usually settle within a few days to a week. Results develop over the following weeks and typically last around six months, after which the treatment can be repeated.

SkinVive is a cosmetic treatment and is not covered by OHIP. Cost depends on the amount of product used and is confirmed at your consultation. No referral is needed.
